The Aspectus PR Energy team attended the Energy Now Expo in Malvern this week, and one thing that was perfectly clear is that biofuels are now big business.

Biomass, biogas, anaerobic digestion, and wood burners may have been a little overshadowed by wind and solar in the mainstream media of late. But given the huge interest in these technologies, we at Aspectus predict you’ll be hearing a lot more about them moving forward.

Almost 50 per cent of the exhibitors were involved in the biofuel industry, and many attendees noted how much larger the biofuel stands were at this year’s renewable energy event for farmers and the agriculture industry.

Aside from the larger stands and greater number of exhibitors, one thing that did strike us from our conversations with exhibitors was the fact that very few of them are actively engaging in marketing or PR activity.

In what is becoming an increasingly crowded market, we would urge biofuel players to pay more attention to honing their core messages, and to start engaging with the media more effectively if they are to successfully educate their target audience, fuel sales, and stay ahead of the competition.
