London, 12th February 2014 – Aspectus PR’s financial services team is delighted to have been shortlisted in the PR Moment Golden HedgeHog Awards 2014. The shortlisting recognises the team’s exceptional financial services campaign for the social investment network, eToro.
Aspectus was brought in to help eToro open up the world of investment to the average UK person on the street. The aim was to cultivate quality media relationships and coverage in a short time on a shoestring budget.
The team had three months to prove itself and did exactly that, generating more than 25 pieces of coverage in the nationals, financial services, lifestyle, and tech media, including broadcast and several influential blogs. Aspectus PR also managed a media tour that took in leading titles such as The Economist, Bloomberg, CNBC, The Times, The Daily Mail, What Investment, and The Telegraph.

The stellar growth achieved by the social investment network during the campaign ensured eToro signed as a retained client at Aspectus. It took three years for eToro to reach its 50 millionth trade, but the site celebrated its 100 millionth trade just six months later, with the user base growing from 2.7 million to 3 million. This spike in interest was in many cases directly attributable to media exposure, with a 300 per cent rise in UK user numbers in the week following a major piece in The Sunday Times.
